I am mostly aiming at California medical schools. Also, another unrelated question. For my major, I have to option of either taking a bio lab and 2 organic chemistry labs or Introduction to basic lab techniques in biology and foundations of design and experimentation in molecular biology 1 and 2, both of which are labs. Would it make a difference? Also, my major requires applied electronics 1 and 2. Could I use that instead of physics?

UCSC's a four-year school, right? No, won't hurt your chances. All else equal, an Ivy League or similar school like MIT might help you, but only a little. A 3.7 from UCSC won't keep you out of any school in the country, Harvard included.

It's a wonderful school.
You don't need two organic labs.
It seems doubtful that electronics would be a good substitute for physics at the schools that require it.
It is more like 1 quarter of basic physics, then 2 quarters of electronics.

It's a fine school. Go Slugs!!!

A single quarter of what would generally be recognized as physics is not likely to meet requirements (at schools that still have them).
Unless the catalog description of the second and third quarters of electronics contains the same content that would normally be found in those quarters of general physics, you would still need to take physics.

Um take a look at Stanford’s personal statement examples. One of the essays talks about going to Santa Cruz. Your school will almost never be the reason for a rejection.
