I am a non-native studying biochemistry at U of Hawaii, and know that my chances of getting into their MD program is pretty much impossible just based on their (more or less) prejudice so I won't be applying there. Anyhow, I would rather apply to DO schools. So with a 3.5 gpa, and a 27 MCAT which DO schools should I apply to?

Anywhere you want. You're competitive for all of them (stats-wise).

Eh... he's competitive for the average school. But he's not competitive for DMU, Touro-CA, Western, CCOM, PCOM, etc.

Awesome, that is very reassuring. My only ECs are 60+ volunteer hours in an emergency department, and 6 years of Florida Army National Guard service (non-medical MOS).

You'll have a good change at many of the DO schools. If you want to get back to Hawaii, try AT Still, AZ (SOMA)...they have a track that puts you in Hawaii for years 2-4.

If you want the best DO school (according to a totally objective study, organized by Science) then you can apply to MU-COM in Indianapolis 😉

Apply to over 10 DO schools that you could see yourself at, and take your time to give a quality PS and secondaries and you should get several interviews. Good luck 👍

Right on. I would rather end up back in Florida, so that is where I am hoping to go to med school. Thanks for the insight!

Apply early, NOVA likes high MCAT scores...lots of 29+ when I interviewed.

I'm not sure about LECOM-B, I didn't apply there.

I am hoping for NOVA that my best friend who is the president of his class and a second lieutenant in the air force and is also writing my letter of rec will be able to get me in NOVA!
