Will I be eligible for MD if I don't get into MD/MPH?

I noticed that schools have much more students going into MD than MD/MPH. Although this might be because there are simply more MD applicants, this still kinda tells me that MD/MPH must be a bit more competitive. I am worried that I might hurt my chances of admission if I apply MD/MPH. What do you think? Is it possible that I ruin my chances for an MD by applying MD/MPH?

I think you should clarify with the school you are applying to. For example that's what University of Miami states, "If you select to apply to both the MD and the MD-MPH, decisions regarding admission to each program are made independently and in no way is your status in one program affected by your status in the other program".
