I was diagnosed with ADD when I was a kid.

Parents refused to put me on meds. I did poorly in elementary school and was put in several remedial classes because of it. I did poorly in high school, and was in several of the "basic" classes that were reserved for students who kept failing.

I ended up graduating from high school. 3.3gpa, no AP classes. I made it into a low tier undergrad school, majored in Biology and pulled a 3.05 gpa my freshmen year, and a 3.25 gpa my sophomore year.

That was enough to allow me to transfer to another more mid tier state school.

I went there, my junior year, I got a 3.27 gpa and my 4th year, I got a 3.30 GPA.

I stayed at the school for a 5th year, decided to get a second degree (Psychology). I ended up getting Straight A's and it jumped my GPA up to 3.66 (Overall).

My BCPM GPA is 3.48 overall

At the end of my 4th year, I had 134 credit hours.
After the 5th year, I had 171 credit hours.

I withdrew from 2 classes (Statistics and Organic Chemistry 1). Both were over the summer. Both drops were because of family problems (My father needed me to work to keep his business afloat).
Both classes, I took the next semester and got A's.

Umm, my SAT score was a 1020
My ACT was a 18
GRE score was a 1130
I took a practice MCAT score my 4th year of Undergrad and got a 23.

Clearly I am slow.

I finally went to see a doctor about my ADD (which I was diagnosed with when I was a kid, looking for medication).
She told me I needed to see a educational psychology and get a learning disability / ADD test.

My 4 IQ scores. Verbal Comprehension was a 102, Perceptual Reasoning was a 104 and Processing speed was a 114. Now for the kicker, working memory was a 84.

WJ-III cognitive abilities test, was terrible.
I had a 82 on Numbers reversed. A 90 on Auditory working memory. A 80 on Auditory attention. A 116 on Pair Cancellation. Overall the 84 on Working memory and a 91 on Broad Attention.

Diagnosis was ADD. I went to see a psychiatrist. Both the education psychologist and the psychiatrist, said they think the medication will significantly improve my test taking abilities and grades, because the biggest flaw in my cognitive functioning is my ability to sustain attention.

The psychiatrist put me on some pretty strong ADHD meds.

My question is, what if, now that I am on the meds, I make significant improvements, in my test taking ability, how will it affect adcoms perception of my grades?

The psychologist suggested that my IQ scores should shot to above a 120 on each of the 100+ categories and level off on the average scale for cognitive attention/working memory.

I am kind of aggravated that I didn't (and my parents didn't) get me the help I needed when I was a kid. I got into college, and just coasted on with average scores, and was too lazy to get help (also suggested by the psychologist and psychiatrist that that too is a symptom of ADHD). I can only imagine what I could have accomplished in school if I wasn't so lazy and inattentive.

My question is, what if, now that I am on the meds, I make significant improvements, in my test taking ability, how will it affect adcoms perception of my grades?

Your past grades will always stand, but a clear turn-around as evidenced by consistent excellent grades for 1.5 to 2.0 years along with a strong MCAT score proving you "got" the prerequisite material will give you a chance if backed by good ECs, supportive LORs, a compelling Personal Statement and Secondary essays that explain your situation.

It would help if you figure your application GPA the way that AMCAS and AACOMAS would do so, so as to tell how competitive you will be for MD and DO schools. AMCAS will include every grade earned at every school, even if your undergrad school "forgave" it. AACOMAS will include only the most recent grade if you retook, provided the credit hours were the same or greater.
