Will I get interviews at any schools, and which ones do you think.
I am applying to literally, no joke, about 30-35 schools. The ones I won't be applying are howard and meharry and tennessee , bascially those types of schools were you don't stand a chance unless you live there. NYU is my #1 choice and USC is #2. and marquette and creighton are up there as well as Loma linda. So basically how do you think I stand at these schools as well as the others im applying, about the othe r30 in the country that are realistic. What schools do you think I will have a good chance at( ones above as well as ones I haven't mentioned). Please let me know your honest opinions. Remember, to keep on farting.:zip:

You should check www.predents.com for an idea of average admitted in/out of state plus GPA / DAT interviewed and accepted or rejected.

That's waaaay too many schools. I would cut that to under 20 at least.

Why? Whats the advantage of fewer schools?

Yeah but besides that, it will give him as many chances to get in as possible, and hopefully not waste an entire year. Wasting a year by not getting in is Money as well...

I think its way too many schools. If the admissions board knows that you apply to all of these schools, they will first think that you might get accepted somewhere else, and second that you did not do any research on the kind of dental school that you want to attend. Instead you applied everywhere with the hope of getting in. Be selective in the state schools. Like UNLV, they have a formula that they use to rank applicants for interviews. You probably won't be there because u basically have to have a 3.5 and above. But schools like Temple, Marquette, Louisville, Kentucky, and Maryland interview more applicants with lower gpas. Basically do some research before u apply.

Just thought I'd throw this out there...but during one of my interviews, the guy was looking at my file in front of him and asked me specifically which other schools I was applying to, and wanted a reason for applying to each one.

If you get that question...wtf are you gonna do??? lol 😕:scared:😱

Best of luck!

Ha you could still have a reason why you choose to apply the method you did. Like why you blanketed the schools. Interesting though, I was wondering if they would care/know unless they ask in the secondary/supp about which schools a person applies to.

on their supplemental, unlv asks what other schools you applied to

I applied to a bunch of schools in the last cycle and at every interview, I was asked the where and why questions. After I said where, I told them that I was increasing the odds of finding the best fit for me when and if I had the chance to interview at the various schools (they seemed to like that answer). Also, if I'm not mistaken, the adcoms of each school do not have the ability to see the schools you've applied to on the AADSAS application they receive. You could verify with AADSAS to be positive 🙂. Also, something to think of (yet you probably already have). Let's say you get asked to interview at all of these schools---which seems highly likely because you have great stats---will you have the time and cash to do so? Since you've applied early, you would probably be in the first round of interviews. This takes place around the same time frame for most schools (early September to late November--so maybe 15 locations in 3 months--yikes!) But, if you DO have the money and the time, by all means....do it! You'll have a blast traveling and touring these incredible dental schools! It's an amazing experience! I hope whatever you decide, you get into your top choice school. 😀

Wow really? the way people always talk on here about Adcomes not liking it when you apply to lots of schools...I thought for sure it was shown on the application

Could someone verify if this is true, because I've heard very differently. I've heard people who said that adcoms not only knew which schools they applied to, but some even asked them about it.

I think you have good stats and shouldnt have a problem getting in especially with applying to so many school.

great questions ... anyone?

As far as I have heard the schools thats ask about other schools and how they are in the Interview are the ones that asked in the Secondary which schools you are applying to. Or in the interview they ask which schools and and then ask why for each of them...

another issue is the fact i live in northeast, but i don't fly. i will be driving to each interview, so basically lets say i get a couple out west, will i be able to schedule them at my own time, or do i have to go by their schedule? le tme know, who knows, and whats up.

This topic has been discussed many times in this forum. So, all the schools you apply DO know what other schools you applied. I applied to about 12 schools in 2008 cycle and 2 of the schools I interviewed asked me about the other schools I applied. I remember one asking "among the 12 schools you applied, which are your top 3?" and another one said "Oh, you applied to x school, i went there for dental school." So, yeah...they know where you are applied.

There were no questions in the supps? I thought thats where they found out where you applied.

Do you mean supplemental application? Schools that have supplemental application may or may not ask you. But I am 99% sure it's stated in the original application because one of the school that asked me the question did not have supplemental application. Where else can they get the info from? it must be from the application you turned in through AADSAS.

Interesting! I have applied to eight schools and I was wondering whether they know which schools I apply. I remember I was working on supplemental application for UNLV last week, and they asked about what other schools you apply. I am glad that I have good reasons for each school!

yeah, that's very important, which also refers back to OP. I think applying to 30-35 schools make the good reasons less convincing.

I have such a low gpa though i need to apply to a lotta schools to make sure I stand a chance of getting in. I also will have not to strong of LOR's. So right now i'm applying to 30 schools, If I apply to 20 instead of those 30 thats 10 less chances of getting in.

How certain are you guys that they know what other schools I apply to , do you think I should call AADSAS for the answer. Would they know?
