In case you don't know, there's a button under each message you posted, called "Edit" 😉

Is your avatar = John Mayer?

I didn't know about the edit button, thanks. You're close, it's Howie Day not John Mayer.

lol..i think i set an sdn record...should i mention in my application:

set whirlwind record in SDN by posting high-interest profile invoking unprecedented response through using hardship-love-sex-marriage success formula, thus demonstrating exceptional leadership, communication, cognitive and magnetic qualities, being as modest as is humanly possible.

Adcoms look for uniqueness, that's certainly more unique than volunteering in ER

and just like that the responses come to a halt.

YOu guys, it's like 5:30am Hong Kong time and what the heck am I doing? I'm supposed to go out after noon today and goto a bar at night...thanks for screwing up my sleeping schedule 😀

MERRY XMAS! Chao...

catchmehere,
I don't know how your international status will affect you, but I do know you have an excellent shot at DO schools. Just as long as you get around a 26 or above, with your ECs and gpa you should easily be able to get into at least a DO school.

What should i do with an adhd diagnosis...will mentioning it hurt my chances. I'm obviously not handicapped by it. I got diagnosed a few months ago and the medicaiton really really helps. It really makes the difference between an A and a B for me.
...advice?

A few U.S. medical schools give loans to international students WITHOUT a cosigner. I have heard some of my friends talk about them.

Now i remember 2 years ago that the 5 closest international students friends that i have decided to put their names in the lottery for fun. 4 out of them won. The other one tried the next year and won also. I guess they just got lucky.

FYI i hear this year that there are going to be so many millions less green card lottery applicants because it's not paper based anymore.

Tezzie,
would really appreciate it if you would let me know which schools these are.
thanks

did I just lose your interest...oh no. what did I say??😕
no one said anything about the adhd thing.
baffled

GOOD FOR ME 🙂 However, less people will be disqualified. In the past, I think up to 50% of people were disqualified b/c they don't meet some obscure requirement (Like the envelope size is bigger or smaller than required, the photo is slightly bigger or smaller than required, etc)

were you diagnosed as having ADHD by a physician? If so, I think mentioning it will only help if your grades suffered in a particular year or so. That'll help adcom to see things in context.

Alternatively, if you have a good story about overcoming the obstacles b/c of ADHD, it'll make a rather good personal statement.

Or else, not mentioning it is better unless specifically asked so on your secondary by the schools (eg. "Do you have any medical conditions that may hinder your performance in med school?")
