write an abstract for a conference during the first semester of med school?

My undergrad lab has asked me if I wanted to write an abstract with some data I've collected and submit it to an international conference. All the data are already collected and analyzed, so all I need to do is write it up. I would need to submit the abstract around october or november, am notified of acceptance/rejection in February, and the conference is in May (after exams for my school). I realize that this is heavily dependent on how well I adjust to med school, but I'm just wondering if people who have been through M1 think there may be a shot of having this kind of time (heck, I could probably start writing the abstract this summer if I want/need to).

If the data are collected and analyzed, take the requisite 30 minutes and write it up tomorrow afternoon. Preferably after a couple of beers. Done and done.

Excellent, I'll get in touch with my PI, thanks guys!

Exactly. Abstracts are not papers; abstracts are a single paragraph. Budget a whole hour if you're going to watch a tv show while "writing."

I've revised and submitted papers to journals and prepared posters for conferences (and attended said conferences) during rotations like IM and surgery. Do not worry, in the 1st two years you have more time (and more flexible time) than in 3rd year, so you will have plenty of time for getting that abstract ready.
