Hi I just need a couple seconds of your dental students' time on this interview dilemma. 🙂 I recently received an interview invite from one school. Since I wanted to save money+time, should I call the other dental school that locates in the same state to ask if there's any chance that they will also be interviewing me, and if so, can I schedule an interview around the same days?

Have you guys done this? Will this phone call hurt my chances in any ways? Thanks for your opinions!

This is a lil bit different than waiting in the McDonald's line.
It won't hurt your chances, but you'll make yourself look like a fool. Once they decide that they want to interview you, they will let you know it right away.
P.S. They charge the students millions of dollars every year, and won't give a tid bit about you saving money on hotels and airplane tickets.

Good idea for applicants without an interview. Call the ds and tell them you just happen to be in the neighborhood and wanted to drop in for an interview.

Thanks for the posts! But I just got two totally opposite pieces of advice... anyone?

Umm, no you did not. I am going to go out on a limb and say that Doc had a hint of sarcasm in there.

It is a terrible idea. Dont do it.

Let's get this straight... their time is more important than yours. Saving you a few hundred dollars is the least of their worries.

I think it's a bad idea. Schools aren't obligated to accomodate your travel/financial situation. Many are flexible in allowing you to choose from a list of dates, but that's AFTER they've invited you for an interview. To call and basically say "hey if you're thinking about interviewing me you need to do it on these specific days" is pretentious and would probably not end well for you. So this idea gets a big 👎 from me.

just talk to the school you already have an interview with and ask if they can give you a little more time to schedule the date.... they might let you choose another day once you hear from the other school.

I did it and it worked out just fine
