You need to change your name honey. If that is how you feel about yourself, let me help you change that RIGHT NOW! You are not dumb. You may foresee a difficult path, but we are all on it. Even if some pre-meds do it for the "wrong" reason, I still think we ALL have some calling to but comfort/cure people who are suffering. There is nothing dumb about that.
The fact that you have a GED may be a strike against you from some elitist institutions, but do you really want to go to those type of places? (If you do, don't let me discourage you, go for it). My one piece of advice is: just work your buns off from now on. Attempt to get into an undergrad school that has a nice pre-med route (will allow you to take the pre-reqs). If you like english or computers or what not, major in that field, but do some extracurriculars in the med field. And don't forget to explore your options. I discovered alot about myself in college, and much of it has nothing to do with medicine.
Maintain a good GPA, do as well as you can on the MCATs and apply to med school. You may have discouraging setbacks, but keep at it.
Also, do a search on SDN about community college. There are several SDNers who have attended CC, and I personally know several people who attended CC for 2 years and are now in med school. So good luck, and keep posting. PM me if you want to chat in person.
