On my secondary for the school I am accepted at, I indicated that I would take orgo 2 lab this spring semester. They require 8 credits of organic chemistry including labs. In November, I met with my advisor to pick spring courses and was informed that the orgo 1 lab I took was actually 2 semesters of organic chemistry combined into 1 semester (which is why it was 2 credits instead of 1), so I already satisfied all organic prereqs. I did not register for additional lab courses after hearing this. Unfortunately, what I wrote on my secondary completely slipped my mind. I just checked my pre-matriculation checklist on my portal and found orgo 2 lab as something yet to be completed and suddenly it all came rushing back to me.
My confusion stemmed from the fact that the organic chemistry sequence I took at my university was named strangely. Instead of being called organic chemistry lab, it was instead titled Synthesis Techniques Part 1. Another lab, which I mistakenly thought was orgo lab 2 was titled Synthesis Techniques Part 2. In reality, my university only offers one semester of organic chemistry and Part 2 covers inorganic chemistry.
I am just extremely nervous because my acceptance letter says that I am required to first inform them of any prerequisite changes and then wait for approval. I don't know if my situation would count, especially since I was not accepted until spring semester already started. Furthermore, I had previously updated them with my fall grades and included all the future classes that I planned to take (this plan did not include orgo 2 lab).
I would really appreciate some advice here from adcoms! I emailed my school informing them of what had occurred, but I understand that they may not be able to get back to me anytime soon due to the more important issues they are dealing with.
Thanks for your time!
