Hi all, I want to pursue OMFS and am currently trying to figure out what kind of research I should do to help my app. The obvious choice would be researching in my schools OMFS Department, however our program is not research oriented at all. In fact it is very rare for dental students to do research projects with our oral surgery staff. Additionally, the program is not as full scope and leans heavily towards dentoalveolar + some orthognathics. Head and neck cancer, cosmetics and trauma is handled more by ENT/Plastics. There are abundant opportunities to research these topics within these departments. If I researched with either ENT/Plastics, will it look weird to other OS programs? My only other option is to research within another dental specialty.

I am wondering as well! was planning on doing some case studies with my friends who are in med school. would it look weird if my research wasn't strictly omfs?
