Hi all, I'm a junior trying to apply for next cycle and I was wondering how my course load would be looked at.
My freshman year I pretty much had 1 sci course a semester, b/c I was taking gen ed, language, writing. After that, I have been taking 2-3 science courses per semester at around 15 credit hrs. This fall, however, I took 3 upper level bio courses and a gen-ed for a total of 12 hrs. I should've registered for more but was too late when I decided, and I had originally planned on research but at the last second it didn't work out. I had all A's that semester and my oGPA is about a 3.9

Next semester I will be taking orgo lab, microbio lab, animal physio w/ lab, human nutrition, gen ed, and doing research for a total of 15 hrs.

Will that semester with 12hrs put a red flag on my app? Thanks

I semester with 12 credits is not going to hurt your app my friend. Just keep you GPA up and continue to do well and it really won't be a big deal at all.

One semester of 12 hours won't hurt you. I had that and nobody questioned it. If someone does ask you about it in an interview, you can say that you intended to do research too but if fell through after registration. You could also say, if this is true for you, that since you had never taken multiple difficult science classes in one semester before, you did not want to overwhelm yourself the first time. As long as the rest of your semester and full and have multiple science classes, you'll be good.

IMHO....

high GPA >>>>>>> high credits per term.
