Will this really hurt my chances, if I wait?

Hey Guys,

Im really worried about my chances this upcoming cycle because everyone says its important to apply early. I am applying with a:

GPA:
Overall: 3.541 Overall without +/-: 3.589
Science: 3.454 Science without +/-: 3.51
Non-Science: 3.725 Non-Science without +/-: 3.75

**I haven't necessarily had a upward GPA trend, its very random and I had 3 Withdraws**

Roughly 250 shadowing hours with a general dentist and oral surgeon
Over 500 hrs of Volunteering
Really good extracurriculars (SGA, started own club for homeless, Fraternity: held multiple positions, organized blood drive, came up with philantrophy raised over 5k)
Had a seasonal job throughout college and worked at a bar for one year as bartender
Have over 1000 hour of research with 2 publications and 2 submitted papers(yet to be published), first author on one
I think I am going to have some really good letter of recommendations

My question is, I have not had too much time to study for the DAT and was wondering will it hurt my chances if I move my DAT back even further and take it at the beginning of september. The reason is because I am finishing up two summer classes right now and barely have any time to study for the DAT. I will have my application submitted in the next two weeks. What do ya'll think. I really need some advice.

Also do you think I will have a chance of getting any pre-december interviews, If I apply this late?
Thank you for anyones feedback.

As long as you get 20+AA on your DAT, you should be fine. Your GPA and shadowing hours are good. No dental school requires research but it does look good to research-oriented schools like UCLA/UCSF

Taking the DAT in September should be fine, since it takes a month to send the scores and many interviews are on October and November anyway.

BTW were you premed at one point? If you were I'd not mention that on your application....

Thanks for the feedback and I actually was not, why do you say that? If you do not mind me asking

It's fine to mention. All my interviewers were genuinely interested. Make sure you have your *** covered every which way though. Really easy to get trapped.
