I have Undergraduate Research Lab experience in a Biology lab. I do not have my Bio lab prerequisites fulfilled due to major restrictions. I am planning on taking my Bio Labs at a community college over summer while my application is in process.

My questions are:
1. Does Research Lab count for Bio labs?
2. Will I be allowed to mention that I am taking Bio Labs while my application is in the process?

I would like to thank in advance for all the help!

1) No.

2) Yes, you can enter "Future" coursework on the AMCAS application. Except for a handful of schools that require it, you have until med school matriculation to complete a year of Intro to Bio Labs.

If I have been a member of a research team for 4 quarters and received a grade for every quarter, how will that grade be incorporated into my sGPA? Will it just count as one grade since they all have the same course code or will they be added separately?

Thanks in advance and thank you guys for the previous answers.
I really appreciate it!

They will be added separately as AMCAS does not average 'repeats' or do any form of grade replacement. For instance, if those 4 quarters are 3 credits each, then you will be receiving 12 total credits worth of whatever grade you have been getting towards your sGPA. Research credits can make a nice little GPA bump.

How do I add my lab experience to AAMC? Do I add it to lecture, lab or combined?

Thank you in advance!

You just add the name of the class that appears on your transcript and the number of associated credits. So far as mentioning research in the W/A, just call it research and talk about the time in the lab and/or doing independent explorations of the literature.

In regards to sGPA. How do I know what is the AAMC and AACOMAS calculation of my sGPA. I have added all course work and submitted my transcripts.

Thank you!

After verification is complete, your application-service-calculated GPAs will be visible on your transcript summary.

I apologize for the inconvenience but I was wondering if anyone would be willing to critique my Personal Statement. Haven't submitted yet because I am waiting for my MCAT score.

Doesn't your school have research course instead of lab? My son is also doing research and registered for Independent research courses which are required for his major and minor.

Yes, so I received credit for my research but I was not sure whether I should have added it to lab, lab+lec or simply lec.
