Hi everyone,

Just heard on Friday that our AF HPSP signing bonus could be delayed until Xmas....I was curious if USAA has ever given a short term 15k loan until I receive my check? Getting very low on cash and want to see if there's a possibility of taking a loan out somewhere (I can't from my school). Thanks in advance!

Sorry you're in this position. You can take out student loans on top of HPSP scholarship. USAA used to, may still, have a loan for recently commissioned officers, up to 25k at around 2%. You could try asking about that as well.

Unfortunately I can't take out a student loan because I've already received more than the cost of attendance from my tuition payment and living stipend at my University. I'll call USAA tomorrow, its tough but I gotta try to make something work.

...I'm curious if they'll loan me the $ with no "income" other than my stipend based just off the fact that I'll be getting a bonus. I do have a co-signer so that might be my ace up my sleeve.

true. and if you have an hpsp stipend and the max cost of attendance already given to you, how do you need more money right now?

I had an emergency this summer that cost me 3k (was in the hospital) and I borrowed money from a family member.

The bump because I have no idea what im doing
