Hi i just got an email yesterday saying that they need to see my winter grades before they can decide to offer me an interview (this is because i have not completed my pre reqs yet and is finishing up o-chem winter and spring). My winter grade does not show up untill march 25th and i was concerned that this will lower my chance of admission significantly because its so late. They usually conduct interview from february to april and off admission from february to may.

My question is..has anyone else been in this situation and still got in? does this lower my chance of getting in by alot?

thanks

By winter, I'm presuming Fall grades?

Most schools will extend interviews to those who haven't completed their pre-reqs yet in the assumption that you'll finish them in the Spring or Summer. If they absolutely need to know what grades you got in the Fall before extending an interview, perhaps your gpa is teetering on a delicate edge.

no i mean winter grades.. i already sent in my fall grade thats with (ochem first series) the email told me that they need to see 2 quarters/sermesters of o chem before they can decide. my pre-req gpa is about 3.6 and thats my cumulative is about the same. has anyone else had to do this?

im still finishing up winter quarter (january to march)

Schools on a quarter system usually have three quarters during the main school year (roughly Fall ~Sept-Dec, Winter ~Jan-Mar, Spring ~April-June) and Summer quarter split into multiple sessions.

To OP: Is O-chem the only pre-req you are missing? If not, maybe they feel you are still missing too many pre-reqs and would like to see a little more before making an interview decision.

edit: had this typed up earlier but battery ran out

yep im missing 2 quarters of o-chem (one im taking now--winter quarter) and the other 1 i will be doing spring

edit---- woops im also taking interpersonal communications this quarter, one of the requirements.

nevermind, UC stands for University of California. Because I am on quarter system too. What school are you applying to? Maybe call them up to see if they will still have interview after March. Also let them know if that will hurt your chance of getting interviewed

im applying to University of Washington. Theyre conducting interviews from feb-april so i could still get an interview but i could only imagine how many spots are left since theyre only accepting 82.
