So I need all four pulled out and the dentist said I need to see an oral surgeon because my right side number 32 was sitting close to the nerve. So I setup an appointment and they said August 6th -_-. Has anyone else had to wait several months for there surgery plus my wisdom tooth is hurting. I do get a clean up tomorrow so maybe there will less the pain I am hoping.
I am 19 btw

That's seems odd especially since it is the slow season for oral surgeons now. If you have insurance contact them and they should be able to provide you with a list of OS offices near you that you are in network with. I'm sure another office will be able to see you before August. Hope this helps

That's ridiculous. Tell your dentist about this so he/she can maybe refer you to another oral surgeon, or look for an oral surgeon yourself that's in-network. You shouldn't have to wait 6 months for this...

That seems a bit steep honestly...I am a surgical assistant for an oral surgeon and have been since 2011 (absolutely love it!) and the entire time I have been there we really are only booked out 2-3 weeks in advance. Of course we do fit in emergencies like most oral surgeons do but we are also a small office where we are not seeing 20-40 patients a day. I still find it hard to believe that what you are saying is true. Like one of the other guys/gals mentioned, we kind of just clicked into a stage where we are doing a lot of consultations especially for wisdom teeth since everyone is back in school but we are still doing several surgeries per day. Our Summer does fill up very fast;however, this does not occur until typically the Spring time. I hope this helps, definitely see who is in network and ask your dentist who a reputable, in-network surgeon is!

I know its ridiculous but thats the best oral surgeon around. The other oral surgeon people are not to fond of. Usually I dont freak out about the dentist, but let me tell you what happened today.
I go to my dentist, the hygenist or assistance makes me bite on to the x-ray scan thing multiple times. So then she gives it to the dentist, and this is what happens.
He walks in, says "I had my wisdom teeth removed at the age off 22". Then says" Oh NO I cannot operate on this the wisdom tooth since it is sitting right next to the nerve, I will refer you to an oral surgeon" Gives me the referral slip and bounces lol.
I was like what just happened and in awe.
I should probably call them again though but when she said August 6th I was depressed. Couldn't believe it myself.

No tip

No tip for that dentist! haha

What insurance are you using? If you're on medi-cal, which I was, I had to wait that long too.

Yea I think its molina healthcare, you think they are making me wait a long time because of health insurance -_-?

OMFS don't like to handle medi-cal cases because the reimbursement is so low. In my town, even tho there is like 4-5 oral suregons, only 1 of them actually took medi-cal. And because he's the only that does medi-cal, his medi-cal patient waitlist is booked. But if you're willing to out of pocket, you can probably get that taken care of within weeks instead of month at any of the offices.

Medi-cal = low priority patient. Also, medi-cal patients have get the state to approve of their treatment plan which takes a couple of weeks too.

Your general dentist couldn't do anything for your teeth, that's why he walked out on you. you can call back his office, but he has no control over the schedule of the OMFS.

That sucks. 6 months is a unfair cant believe they do that. If it was like two months I wouldn't mind but this is half a year. -_-
