Hi can someone explain to me why there is an increase in IgE and IgA and a decrease in IgM in Wiskott-Aldrich Syndrome.
It seems rather backwards since a decrease in IgM should spell a decrease in IgE and IgA

The short answer is that nobody really understands. The long answer is that that mutations in the WaSP protein, which regulates signaling and cytoskelital reorganization in hematopoetic cells, somehow result in in an increased catabolism of IgA, IgE, and IgM. Following this, B cells increase their synthesis. However, the synthesis of IgA and IgE are increased at a rate that exceeds their catabolism, while the synthesis of IgM is increased at a rate that is less then it's catabolism.
