Will USMLE exams change their content to reflect these changes? For example, will the correct answer to an HPV-vaccination question now be 1 vaccine instead of 2 if 14 or under and 3 if 15-42?
I'd like to believe that the USMLE (and med schools at large) will still stick with evidence based guidelines (which these are not), but if RFK decides to use the levers of government to enforce his indoctrination, I'm not sure they'll hold strong.

Because different countries have different guidelines, and vaccination guidelines do change occasionally (usually not this abruptly), the specific schedule of vaccinations usually isn’t considered testable material.

My ITEs tested on HPV vaccination schedule, I'm pretty sure Peds shelf exam covered at least chicken pox, and I seem to recall pneumococcal pneumonia showing up on both my ITEs as well as Step.

Yeah may be different for peds or FM board exams, but if something is newly updated they likely won’t test it for a year or two.

But I don’t believe vaccine schedules were in general USMLE exams

Yeah I don’t recall schedules being tested on the steps, but mechanisms and targets and whatnot were there for sure.

I do recall a couple schedule questions on the Peds shelf. My guess is the NBME may pull or revise some of those questions while things are in flux. They will also need a few cycles of unscored test questions to gauge performance and adjust accordingly.

If I were a student preparing for a shelf that may cover it, I’d probably stick to whatever bigger picture guidance isn’t in flux and just let the rest go. Plenty of other higher yield topics to study.
