Hi guys, I am wondering what you guys think I should do about my situation.

I am currently taking 1 upper division bio class and 2 non-science classes (german and music). I have consistently taken 2 or more science classes per quarter but due to enrollment issues, I was only able to enroll in 1 upper div science class this quarter. On top of that, I enrolled into german 1 week late so I came into the class behind.

At the moment, I am unsure as to whether or not I will be able to pass this class. I am wondering if it would be a bad idea to withdraw from it. I am planning to apply this upcoming cycle and will try my best to take at least 2 upper div science classes next quarter.

Will withdrawing really negatively impact my application in this upcoming cycle?

Whops, sorry. I meant to say if it was okay to withdraw from my german class.

The rule is very simple. If you can't get an A or B+, drop.

A withdrawal from a non-preq class won't hurt you that much. I've done it. But a bad grade will hurt your GPA.

I am wondering if it would be considered a red flag on my app to see that I am not taking a full course load 2 quarters before I apply. I have opted for 3 Pass/Fail classes in the past (micro econ/ history/ religious studies).

I have checked with most dental school sites and they all seem to prefer a full course load of science classes (3 per quarter). I have only been taking 2 science classes + 1 non science per quarter and have been doing very well. Will this be an issue?

If I withdraw from this class, I am pretty confident that I will be able to get A's in both my upper div bio and music classes.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this situation? I will ultimately end up with 3 Pass/Fail classes (all are not pre-reqs) and 1 W (non pre req as well)

It's not a huge deal. I've had worse.
Just ace the remaining classes if it is too late to sign up for any more.

I had two Ws, but still got into multiple schools. Don't worry too much about it. As long as you have reasons, it will be all good. You are still in good shape! Just do well in other classes and get good grades.

Good Luck!
