I just looked at my unofficial transcript online, and it showed that I had some "withdraw" classes, and I didn't know that it would actually show up on my transcript. The classes I withdrew were mainly "non-prereqs" classes, which I figured out I don't need to graduate and that's why I withdrew.

So my questions is: Will it look really bad that I had some "W" on my transcript?

Thanks in advance.

As long as you have a rational reason for the Withdrawl, it should not be a problem. Now if it appears you were withdrawling every semester, then it may be a sign of not being able to handle certain course loads.

Withdraws don't really hurt your appearance as a candidate because your transcript doesn't release reasons as to why you withdrew. It could be you were bombing quizzes and tests, you forgot you were in the class and never went so you had to emergency withdraw, or it conflicted with another class so you had to drop it.

Where would I be able to put my reasons for my withdrawals? Is it necessary to put my reasons?

The biggest red flag with withdrawals is if you withdraw from a class because you're doing poorly & retake for a higher grade, repeatedly. If there is a pattern to the behavior, it implies that you're unable to do well with the material the first time around.

From what the OP posted, it doesn't sound like this is the case.

Should I put any of my reasons in the PharmCAS applications? I am actually really worried now because I looked it up and I have 5 Withdrawals, some were cancellations even before the class started... I really didn't know they will show. Thanks for all your help.

How would you not know you had 5 Ws? Doesn't that mean you paid for those 5 classes? I added and dropped classes all the time before the start of a quarter and I was only graded on the classes I had paid for.. regardless, the Ws are on your transcript, but I would not draw attention to them if you don't have to. Write your pharmcas statement without mentioning your Ws and definitely keep the statement positive overall. Only explain your circumstances if specifically asked. Some schools asked in the supplementals, others did not.

Our school policy was if we drop the class before certain # of days, it won't show on our transcript... but for some reason it showed and now I think I am kind of screwed because my GPA isn't high either...

I have a "W" on my transcript from a physics lab b/c I withdrew a day after the drop period. The lab wasnt required and I withdrew b/c I found out it was during the same time as the prepharmacy club meetings which I thought were more interesting/important. Not too worried about it.
