Here's the rundown:

- 7 W's, 2 in my marketing undergrad degree: one to lessen the load during my parents' divorce and 1 because I dropped a double major. 5 in science classes - 2 from withdrawal of a semester due to a family death and 3 my last semester in college because of the financial implications for my parents of adding a second biological degree and pay tuition for an additional two years. I went back to earn this degree two years later after I worked a couple of years to solve the problem

I have a 3.51 cgpa (low gpa in my business degree) and a 3.81 sgpa (second degree two years later.) 37 MCAT, and I'm afraid it's not good enough for the application cycle because of the W's, as well as a C in gen chem, a class I took as my first science class, before the withdrawal semester I mentioned up there.

I hate to make excuses because 7 W's and that C look bad. But after taking a year off to get my 2nd degree, I've also grown. Will medical schools even give me the chance to explain myself?

I am not in a position to answer your question but from what you have accomplished (i.e. great MCAT score, sGPA from your 2nd degree), I can see you are determined to make this happen and I'm sure you will. Best of luck:luck:

I'm afraid it's not good enough
I'd be surprised if it even comes up. You're not washed clean, but you've got multiple years of med-school-quality work between who you are now and who you were then.

I think I had a dozen W's, from more than 10 years before I applied. I got in.

Best of luck to you.

thanks for the reply - you applied 10 years before but i would have only applied 2 to 3 years after my past "mistakes". do you know if that makes a difference? i don't even mind if it comes up - i just don't want them to not even give me a shot.

This sounds like you've been spending time in pre-allo working yourself into a neurotic mess.

Your numbers are great. Stop it.

However, since it's September and you're not mentioning anything about secondaries, I'm wondering if you applied late. That would be worth getting neurotic over. But your 37 will likely get you past it.

Best of luck to you.
