Hey y'all - Was wondering what I should do in this situation.

I am in my first semester as a post-bacc premed student and did terribly on my first bio exam. I took bio I in college, this course fulfills the second bio requirement but it is not required or helpful for the MCAT/med school. Its evolution and ecology. There are a bunch of other bio courses I could take later on that would fulfill this requirement. I got a 67 on my first exam ( Embarassing - I did not even think it was difficult but all of the open ended ones were graded SO harshly.) It is worth 18%. This class is 5 credits because it is combined with lab which I have an A in. Since it is weighted so heavily, and I would be lucky to redeem this to a B/B+ Should I get out quick??? I have one W from my first semester of college (was failing) and one from my last semester (already had all my credits done to graduate and the course was worth way more work to just be a class I was taking out of personal interest - also had some health issues) Is it worth it to take a 3rd W???

I would calculate it out to see what grades you have to make to end up with an A, B, etc.
I think an A is still possible and doable if you put your time into it. Don't quit now, it's too early.

What's your deadline to drop?

You need to figure out why you didn't do well instead of just dropping it. This will be the 3rd time you drop a course because you weren't putting in the work necessary to do well. You are doing a post-bacc in order to get into medical school. You need to demonstrate that you can put the work in and do well even when the class is super hard or when it doesn't seem applicable to your career goals. Having health issues is one thing, and that's understandable, but don't make it a habit to quit just because things aren't going well this early in the game. You can't drop courses in med school, and I guarantee you'll have lectures in med school that will have seemingly no relation to the practice of medicine...still have to truck through it and learn them.

The third time in over 5 years... I would rather not have my science GPA suffer. Even a B is a 3.0 which at 5 credits is a huge dent in the GPA. And my deadline is in like 3 weeks but I will not be able to get my money back then, and the course is costing me like 7 grand.

I understand that you don't want the B and that GPA is important. The takeaway from this is to figure out what went wrong in this class.

3 W's over 5 years is not a huge deal and will likely not even be noticed. If you have another exam before the deadline, I'd say buckle down and try to do it, but it sounds like you already made up your mind.
