Withdrawing from a class?

Hi all,

So this is my second to last semester. I have 103 credits in Biochemistry /Pre-Dental with a 4.0 GPA. I have a 23 AA DAT score. I am taking a class called Biotechnology that is required for my major as an upper level biology course. It was one of three that was offered but the only one I was able to register into. This class is HELL. The lectures are useless because the professor recites stuff word for word from the book and the slides are all pictures without any content. He goes through like 50-100 slides in one lecture with so many different topics that not a single person in the class has a clue as to what is expected to be on the exam. He even has topics that aren't in the book and we are expected to know them with just pictures...what?? I have an exam coming up this week, which I have studied hard for. I am wondering...If I were to not do well on the exam .. C or below...and this progresses into my next exam...should I withdraw from the course? I have never withdrawn before, so I have no clue as to what dental schools will view this as? I mean this is a class that EVERYONE is struggling in because we all have no clue as to what is going on. Will it seem like I am trying to keep my GPA perfect and look bad to adcoms? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am not trying to act like I'm perfect in any way...I'm seriously worried as to what to do because I absolutely hate this class.

Can you drop the class as opposed to withdrawing?

yeah just drop the course before the deadline so you dont have to take a "W".... also, wouldn't there be a curve to your class if everyone is gonna bomb the midterm?

I would withdraw from the class. You worked really hard for your GPA and if you can apply with that GPA do it! Then take that class later on after you are accepted!

I only had one withdraw in my transcripts and it was a pre-require course. Went to 5 interviews and no one brought it up! They know you are not perfect but a hard worker and it's ok to withdraw from a class once, just have a good excuse to back it up if they ask you and that's it!

One W, especially in the face of all your other achievements, will barely cause adcoms to blink. You have a stellar GPA and have clearly proven your abilities. Withdraw if you think things aren't going to look up.

You are an overachiever and looking too deeply into things. I was the same way last cycle, such as worrying if my two semesters with 12-13 credit hours could be a hindrance. LOL! Looking back, what a waste of thought that was.

Guys--a lot of school don't have ultra-long "drop" periods. At my school, it was literally one week to drop. You could withdraw up until midterm.

Thanks for the feedback guys! Unfortunately the drop/add period is only one week, just like Glimmer's. I am going to see how the exam turns out and decide whether it's even worth withdrawing or not. I have till April 9th to decide, so I am just asking people's opinions as to whether or not I should do it.

One W won't matter, drop it if you have to.

Maybe the class will be super curved in your favor.
Withdraw after the first exam (if it comes to that). Who knows, you might surprise yourself!

Plus, like everyone said, one W won't be too huge, since you have kicking stats everywhere else.
