Hey Everyone,

I have a question for everyone about an EMT class I am taking this summer. If I am accepted to medical school off the waitlist this summer and my EMT class does not end until early August, What do you do?

I took the EMT class this summer in the event that I was not accepted off a waitlist this summer, then I would be able to use the EMT-BAsic to gain more clinical experience this fall and I thought the class would be interesting. But if I do get accepted off a med school waitlist, do I withdraw? I know it is only an EMT class versus medical school, so most people I have talked to say they would just withdraw, but I look at withdrawing as being a bad idea because it will be on your transcript at the community college where you took the class. I just wouldn't want to jeopardize an acceptance to medical school, so has anyone been in this situation? What did you do?

Since none of the schools were I am currently waitlisted know I am even taking this EMT class, I dont think it would be a problem, but I still think I if I am accepted off a waitlist I should ask them what they would like me to do. Just wanted to know everyone's thoughts? Thanks

Ummm....are you serious? Go to med school!!

No, I definetly am going to med school, maybe I wasn't clear. I dont want to upset or jeopardize an acceptance to med school because I didnt finish a EMT class. I will definetley go to med school, no doubt, no way I wouldnt, not in a million years. I just dont want a med school to come back later and say "hey, you withdrew from an emt class, and then take back an acceptance or kick me out of school.

I know this is probably never ever going to happen, maybe I am paranoid, I dont know,

Thank you USArmyDoc and SunnyJohn, you all are right. I am worrying about something that is probably not a big deal.

Are you taking the class for credit? If it's a no credit class it probably won't even appear on your transcript and thus they would have no way of knowing if you even took it. The EMT summer classes at my school are all no credit and you don't even enroll through the registrar's office just the phys ed department.

No, its an 8 credit course. My premed advisor said she doubts schools will care if I withdraw from it if I am accepted, but I think I will still ask the school what to do if I am accepted. What do you all think?

I vote for telling the schools if you're accepted... or even calling the admissions office of the schools you're waitlisted at and asking if it'd be a problem.

You can ask, but I bet you money I don't have they won't care.

Don't worry about it Zaza

Assuming that most med schools don't start until middle/late August, why can't you finish the class?
