withdrawing from schools

this may be a silly question, but i've just been accepted to one of my top choices 😀 and now want to withdraw from several schools. is there a specific way to do this? will an email suffice?

what i did was call up specific schools and ask them about their procedure. all of them so far took down my name and then asked me to send them an email which they print out and stuff in my file.
