Withdrawing from schools

When you withdraw from a school, do they usually reply and confirm? I just want to make sure they're not expecting me to show up.

It feels like a hard thing to do, but I'm sure they don't take it personally. Also, what is the best etiquette for cancelling interviews - at least 1-2 weeks (or more) in advance?

I received confirmation for the two schools I withdrew from. One was a form response, one was personalized.

As far as interviews go, I would cancel as soon as you know you aren't gunna go.
