I am thinking about withdrawing from vermont because of the conviction issue. I was put into central booking for a moving violation in my car and had to go to court for it. I am scared that this will really affect my chances of getting accepted into vermont and maybe other medical schools may find out about it. So is it a good idea to just withdraw?

Doesn't that count as a traffic violation, which means that you don't have to list it?

Call or e-mail the school.

Seems excessively cautious, but do what you gotta do. Just be honest in case it comes up later. I can't imagine a moving violation could be an issue. We've all run a few red lights! 🙂

Well i was drving recklessly and put into jail for it. That is why i am cautious.

according to the VT app it says save for parking violations and old speeding tickets, "All other infractions must be listed on the supplemental application, regardless of the amount of time that has passed. In addition, you must include a copy of the police report for each offense..."

so -- a) were you convicted of anything? if it was as serious as a dui or something, you might have to do it
b) otherwise, check with the school. was a police report even written up for it? if it was a matter of speeding, i would almost only list it as such and not go into the details of having to go to jail and such. everyone speeds sometimes.....

Is there a chance of other schools finding out about besides vermont?

I would call the school directly to find out what to do. You may be over reacting, and then again you may not be. that's why I say call the school. only they know what they mean on those forms! just for your own sake. 👍

Reckless driving is a bit more serious than a simple moving violation, you didn't have to disclose it to AMCAS?
