I want to withdraw from some schools. So far, I have sent letters. Do you know if they accept phone calls or emails instead?

i would stray away from email (it's too casual for your purpose).
and if you call, always follow it up with a letter afterwards.

When I withdrew from my schools I did it a number of ways. I first called to withdraw, some of those schools said the phone call was enough, others wanted a signed fax and one said an email was fine. Call the school first that way they can take you out of their system sooner and have a place for someone else. Then ask them if they want an official letter or fax.

i just sent letters. they were very to the point, but polite. it literally took 3 minutes to write them and send off to 2 schools. just send a letter.
