Withdrew from DPT school, want to reapply but terrified to do so.

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I was in a non-traditional DPT program and withdrew due to extreme anxiety. My grades were fine but I just withdrew anyway and now I'd like to reapply to a standard program but not sure if they'll want to take a chance on me due to the fact that I left the program that I was in. Please advise me on what to do next.

How far along were you in the Program before the withdrawal?

I've had classmates who have failed out after two semesters who are in other DPT programs right now. If you believe your mental health and anxiety won't be an issue the next time around, feel free to apply somewhere else.

I don’t think the schools you apply to will look tooooo much into it since your grades were fine and you weren’t academically dismissed. If they do ask about it during your interviews, it’s your choice to explain the mental health issues behind it if you’re comfortable, but you are never obligated to release any information about your health. You can always just say that you no longer wanted to attend a non-trad school and wanted to reapply and start at a traditional DPT program. If your mental health status does come up, it’s against the law for schools to deny you an admission solely due to that factor. The school I’m in incredibly stresses the importance of mental health and offers many free resources and counselors to help students that may be struggling and I believe the same is true with many other programs! Good luck to you and remember that if you ever feel like you’re being buried - you’re just being planted 😉

I personally would not mention anxiety if school asks you for reasons of your previous withdrawal. I would say I had a family emergency. That would lead to the least amount of questions to you. For example, if you tell them about your previous anxiety, they may ask you questions like how do you deal with it now, how do you know it will not happen again, what changed etc, etc...
Since your grades were fine, you do not need to be anxious about anything (I know it is easier to say than do) since while you are IN SCHOOL grades are pretty much the main thing that matters to succeed.
