In the fall I am taking Microbio, Gen chem and political science, should I throw in this class as well? It is a 3 credit course but has an easy professor, I'm taking this as a "fluff" class to boost my GPA and my course load (12 -> 16), its extremely important I get all As in the fall and I don't think this class will interfere with that.

Any idea how the adcoms would look at it? I haven't been doing good in my non science classes (keep getting B+s) and this would be a good way to show I've changed.

I think it would be a good idea if you want to take it. Adcoms might think it is fluff, but I'm sure some students just take classes because they are interested in the subject so really adcoms can't judge.

i'm baffled as to how you're able to take microbio without even finish gen chem =o. I'd say its fluff. I usually try to take classes that at least have some relatedness to pharmacy. I'm taking Intro to Public Health hah and its a 3100 level class 😀

I believe the only pre req for micro is the cellular bio semester of college bio. You really use no chemistry in micro so I wouldn't worry too much about it. I think Micro is the most fun bio class there is. 😀

Since when is a B+ not a good grade?
If all A's is what it takes to get accepted to pharm school, I should hang up the towel now!!!

Also, I don't see why taking a broad range of courses in different areas of study would be looked down upon (or considered fluff.) I've taken Women Studies prior to gearing towards pharmacy and it's a very interesting course (not fluff at my college as it involved a lot of reading and was a heavy writing intensive course.) Since I've been on the pre-pharmacy track I still (when given the chance) like to take a course outside the spectrum. I'm considering either Sociology of Religion or Classical Studies this fall.
Although pharmacy is my main career goal, other things spark my interest as well. Hopefully, I will still be viewed as a serious applicant and it will not affect my chances of acceptance.

B+ = 3.3

At Wayne the average accepted GPA is 3.7, also taking into consideration I'm an international, a B+ is not good, at least for my situation

Hehe…

I’ve taken a course called women and religion. I’ve also took a lot of non-science courses like ceramics, sex and religion, and a few language courses. I don’t think it was easy because I had to put a fair share of my time in it. Women studies had me reading packets and packets of literature daily and it was lots of writing for me, but I learned a lot and it was worth it. I don’t think I was viewed negatively by adcoms because I took so many non science courses (I hope so :-O) instead, I believe it made me a well rounded person. Funny thing was my course loads were almost a regular 12 credits sprinkled by a few part time and over 12 credit semesters. So…I guess for me taking heavy 16 credit course loads was rare, but I have to say that my overall and science gpa was decent.

I have to agree that B+ in non science GE type classes other than math is mediocre because those classes arn't that competitive as science classes. In my non science classes professors go through about 10 slides whereas in science they cover about 3 times as much for the same units in addition to a ton of supplemental reading material.
I mean yah..some are hard like someone mentioned writing and reading packets of literature and such but if you keep getting B+'s then that is not good.

dang. well I applaud you all for being stellar students, cause thats awesome. I just posted that face earlier cause I think you folks are putting way too much unnecassary pressure on yourselves. Good luck (even thought you don't need it) with everything guys.

me and my friend were both women's studies majors at UCLA and we both got into western. I had to take many women studies classes so i don't think it would affect ur application, but can only help it.
