I'm probably gonna look back at this thread couple years from now... and kicking myself in the ass wishing I could go back to today.

Currently a sophomore, decided this year I want to pursue a career in medicine..
very low GPA... ~2.5
three semesters already down, only 5 more to go.
transcript mostly B's and C's....

I just want to get my science and OA gpa over 3.5 by the time I graduate and get 30+ on my MCATs.

I guess it's going to take a bunch of summer classes, retakes, and post-bac to be even considered "competitive" for med school.......... :scared:

and obviously, I'm not even looking at any of the top-tier med schools... just any of the three Florida schools.

USF, UM, or UF...... 😳

You're still really early in your college career. If you start now, you can really turn things around.

You might also consider staying in school for an extra year -- you could really use that time to get your grades up.

Good luck!

Definitely take an extra year if you can. The extra classes will boost your gpa. Also, you probably need to be getting ONLY A's/A-'s. Kiss everything below goodbye if you want to get your gpa up to a 3.5. Even if you don't reach a 3.5, if your gpa for the next couple years is great, schools will consider this turnaround in grades and take this into account when you apply.
