Hello,

I'm not applying until next cycle, but had a question regarding the activities/experiences section.

Does anyone think intensive one week experiences are worth mentioning? I have two in particular I am curious about. I spent a week (around 40 hours) with a diverse and collaborative team as part of the global health case competition. We were presented with a global health problem and spent a week coming up with a solution that we presented to a panel of judges (and placed second).

I also spent a week (~40 hours) at an all expense paid statistical workshop (we had to apply to attend) in which my team was presented clinical data and and told to analyze and present our findings.

I wasn't sure if such short experiences were worth including.

Thanks!

Applicants do list, eg, an alternative spring break experience of similar duration. If you feel the activity enhances your candidacy through demonstrating a desirable characteristic and can articulate its significant impact, then feel free to list it. Be aware, it's also possible to group similar activities if you're running short on spaces.

NB: I'm not saying you should list them, as from what you've described they seem similar to classroom project assignments. It's for you to decide if there's more to them than that.

Thanks for the input! I guess I can see why you think they seem similar to classroom project assignments, although by that logic many things included in the activities section are similar to classroom projects (ie research, extracurricular club projects, etc.)
