Hi guys,

I am hoping to apply to mph programs, but I was wondering if you guys could tell me how important the work experience (related to public health) is in admission process?

I have a good GPA and okay GRE but have little experience. I have a pretty good research experience (translational) and some shadowing.

GPA:3.79
GRE:1350
DAT: 98th percentile
research in immunology for 4 years as undergrad
B.S in biological scienes at Stanford

At what schools do I have a chance? Thanks for the help!

Importance of work experience varies by program (you probably wouldn't make Harvard for example), but it's a no-brainer that you'd be competitive for most schools.

Not to be critical of the OP but I did some immunology research as well but it was during an extra semester after my undergrad consisting of grad credit that I managed to sweet talk my adviser into letting me do. It involved a lot of ELISA's, Western blots, and mice working to find a more specific antibody for detection of botulism toxin.

I'm just curious but what type of immunology research are you accounting for during your 4 years of researching as an undergrad?

Frazier is just full of wit, we owe it to him for livening up an otherwise insipid forum 👍
