The ultimate goal of the ACA is as Obama/Mao/Stalin/Marx/Castro want it is to level the playing field regardless of talent or drive.
They want US Docs to still provide US hours of private practice (50-60 hours) for many of us in private world. Yet get paid Euro wages. Only problem is they also do not want US docs getting Euro benefits (like 35-40 hour work weeks, pensions, paid 8 weeks off, heavily subsidized schooling, etc).
All one needs to do is look at the big drop in medical school applications after 1996-2000 witth the AAMC data. The peak year was for the the 1996 entering class (1995 applicants).
Something called the Internet boom happened and all the talent and brightest decided to go to the tech business. The number of applications tanked over a 4 year period. Than the apps picked up again after the Internet bust in 2000.
The brightest students aren't dumb. They want to be compensated for their talent.

Yup. And now with the absurd debt loads from medical school, there is even less incentive to go forward.

Blade. The scariest thing with subsidies is once you give the people free stuff its almost impossible to take it back.
Right now an average family of four making 93k or a single person making about 42k would qualify for subsidies at the 400% poverty mark.
Families making 250% poverty will be making off like bandits compared to socialized systems in Germany who are asked to contribute more.
ACA will end up being 2 trillion over budget. They will cut docs reimbursement more yet docs income only make up less than 9% of total health spending. The USA spends the second least amount on physician income as a percentage of total health spending compared to rest of the world. Only UK spends less on physician incomes but NHS gives their docs a pension plan at the end. Most USA docs don't have pensions.
We all know where the bloat is in medicine. Except this parties are too big of a lobby to give up their revenue cuts.
