I'm deciding whether or not to work full time for a pediatric dental office or continue taking courses at the university? I recently graduated with a bachelors degree in biology but Im going back and forth and deciding what will make me stand out from the rest of the applicants for applying for 2013. Here a little about me: I'm Hispanic, been a dental assistant for the past 3 years, have more than enough shadowing exp. In(ortho,Gen,oral and perio). I applied in 2009 to all Texas schools and was rejected. Since then I have received my BA in biology and have continued taking courses. My Overall GPA is 2.9 and science is 2.65. Any advice or suggestions? Thank you!

Take classes. You need to get that gpa up and as you stated, you have more than enough exposure to the dental field from working as an assistant

Take a full load of classes and make all A's. You have plenty of experience and can convince any dental school that you are serious about becoming a dentist. Now its time to show them that you can handle the rigors of dental school.

Absolutely bring up that GPA. To at least a 3.0. How about your DAT? If you can get a 20 or higher that could make up for being below average academically.

Thank you all for your suggestions....
