Working during winter break

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I know for Walgreens you have to work once a month to stay on payroll. It's a pain if you get kicked off. Luckily, I have an agreement with pharmacy manager at a store where I work that if I can't pick up a shift every month somewhere, he'll give me one.

Are there any other stores in the area around your school? If so, try contacting their pharmacy managers and ask to work a weekend shift however often to keep you active. If you can fix that up, I would personally call the store manager and explain the situation....if you haven't already.

If your chain-x equals CVS then it is a pain to re-hire you. They changed the rules and the training. If you get terminated by the system you have to do their new training program, I wanted to avoid that as much as possible so I religiously work once a month. Try to find a store in the area that is struggling and really needs help. A store that really needs someone will not mind taking the time to re-hire you, especially since you already have experience.

I worked summer and winter break during undergrad...I was able to go on leave from august to December and January through may. Maybe this is an option?

Ask if there are options for leave of absence.

I work at Rite Aid and took 7 weeks off this summer, and I was still kept in the system.
