What combination would be most desirable to work at WHO? It seems somewhat elusive to get one's foot in the door at WHO, even for an unpaid internship (so I imagine getting a job would be harder!). 🙁

-MD only
-MD + WHO summer internship
-MD + MPH
-MD + experience working abroad in non-health field ie teaching
-MD + experience working abroad in health ie summer spent in 3rd world country
-know someone on the inside 😳

I'm just trying to figure out the best course of action. Thanks in advance.

anybody out there? 🙁

Hi there, I am also very interested in working for WHO someday...my dream job😍

I looked at the careers site at WHO and it looks like most "medical" related jobs require you to have an MD and MPH, with over 5 years of field experience.

I'm sure that doing an internship at WHO would really give you an advantage (and you get to befriend someone on the inside😀 )

Overall, I think getting a job there is REALLY competitive...and I will have to give up on my dream job😳

Oh yeah, I forgot the mention.... you have to be able to speak francais.

This has been a huge hurdle for me. How does one go about getting that 5 years of field experience? I don't have the MD yet, but have an MSc in public health and still have a hard time finding international jobs. Any advice?
