Hi everyone,

I am a Canadian D4 dental student looking to work along the west coast in Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, or San Diego, any of the big cities. I am wondering how it is different to work in Canada vs the US (like if you have a higher chance of getting sued in the US from what I have heard). I am also a female visible minority who enjoys warm weather and doing outdoor activities, especially water sports.

Thanks for your time!

I think generally slightly more, but it also depends on what type of dentistry you do and the type of patients you work on. If you do a lot of expensive cosmetic treatments with patients with high expectations, it is understandable they may sue. You also have malpractice insurance for a reason...

In terms of opportunity, the US is a far larger market and has more opportunities to work in.
