If you study your optometry degree in Canada, can you still work in the US?
 
I'm not sure what the current laws/regulations are , but there is a doctor that I work for who graduated from Waterloo.
 
I know you don't qualify for work study since you're not an US citizen but I'm sure there are other means for you to make some money.
