I am wondering if anyone knows which, if any of the osteopathic schools offer opportunities for students to travel abroad during the first summer. I am definitely interested in working possibly in Africa or South America for the first summer. Whether the position is medically realted or ecologically related doesn't really matter to me.

Also, does anyone know where I can find a job or volunteer opportunities overseas for this winter in ecology. I am hoping to be accepted by November so that I can travel the next four months abroad and experience other cultures. If I was to receive another interview while abroad, do you think I just call the school and reschedule it for my return?

NSUCOM offers mission trips and other international opportunities through its health professions division....one of many reasons why I chose Nova as well. I believe they have trips to Jamaica, Haiti, Guatemala..etc...I too have an interest in international medicine and how different cultures receive healthcare.

Good luck to ya!

Do you know if DO's can practice or even do residencies abroad? I have heard that only allopathic doctors are recognized throughout the world, but that may simply be misinformation.
