worst class ever encountered as a pre-med

Management Information Systems....incredibly boring.

Org chem....incredibly boring + difficult.

Premed: calc-based physics

Non-premed: microeconomics

Aeronautics Engineering...

I have NO IDEA why I took the class. I didn't need it, I'm not an engineering major, I just figured... "I took Calc 2, it can't be that hard." Boy was I wrong. I'm just glad I passed.

genetics. open book/note exams = crazy hard exams

My transport class but not material wise rather the professor and book were in continuous disagreement with me.

Histology lab is boring, maybe its just me but I think spending hours looking at slides and drawing pictures of tissues is just busy work. We can easily just go to an atlas and learn from there rather than waste 3 hours drawing stupid pictures.

what was the worst class you've yet to take as an undergrad? doesn't have to be a science/math class- just any course you remember as being horrible

for me, it would have to be an art history course. had absolutely NO interest in the material, went to lecture and fell asleep 3/5 days. people are impressed with pre-meds? some of the art majors in my section could literally write 20 pages about 1 sculpture. crazy- i would never be able to do THAT.

PLANT BIOLOGY - absolutely the most boring class I have ever taken. Thank god it was easy as sin (simple memorization). Although the lab practical was even worst.. walking around campus and identifying trees. How horrible. Not to mention anyone that teaches botany is usually very weird.

My feelings exactly. I would be raging mad during histology lab. I loved the actual lab and looking at the structures, but drawing that crap? I never once looked at my drawings while studying, just google images.

Statistics by far was the worst class for me. It was sooo dry and after lunch, I was near comatose by the end of that class.

Economics. I have never had a problem understanding concepts, but this class just went over my head. All I remember was the instructor babbling and scribbling arrows all over the board.

English, French, or Astronomy.

All things I liked, all things that have been butchered by uni.

Trig sucks too. 🙁

Calculus 1, first semester, first year of college.

The thing was, at my university there was this push by the administration to have entry level classes not taught only by TA's (a big complaint against the school). So in English and Math especially, instead of having 20 people taught by a TA all the time, they'd have a tenured professor teach about 200 people half the time, then they'd do smaller sessions with TA to enforce what the professor did.

So, our basic calculus class was taught by this 70 year old English mathematician who was apparently a very big deal in the department. The thing was, he HATED having to teach this basic stuff and made it very obvious. Basically all he'd do each lecture hour was go to the board and write out a proof for a core calculus principle, like the mean value theorem or something. But to amuse himself, he'd try to prove it in "unusual" ways. So nobody got anything from lecture.

Everyone complained to the TA's about how we weren't being TAUGHT anything, but the TA's didn't want to ruffle the professor's feathers because they all wanted to be on his good side since he was so respected. So we just suffered through.

The problem was, his tests were also designed to be "nonconventional". None of the questions were "standard" type stuff, all were unusual to amuse this veteran professor who was pissed off about having to teach freshmen.

I ended up doing well due to a massive curve, but it was absolutely awful.

Numerical analysis (its a 400 level / grad level math class)

remember all the theorems you saw in Calculus I, II, and III ??? well in numerical analysis, you go over and pretty much proof (using some nasty and hard *** proves) most of them theorems...

First day of class, she gave us 10 problems (all proofs), she goes "these will help you get your mind to think about mathematical analysis" .... lmao, I remember the first problem on the set was "proof that the square root of 2 is an irrational number"....

chinese 201
it just gets ridiculous trying to learn 50+ characters a week for a language you don't speak/read outside of class other than homework
simplified doesn't really help either.

chinese 201 is harder than any bio course i've ever taken that's for sure. the memorization is just killer.

I am an art history minor. I really enjoy it, but modern art is pure junk. I took a modern art class and dropped it because I could not stomach reading 30+ pages on Robert Rauschenberg the collagist whose work was worse than my little brothers artwork when he was 5, as well as Joseph Cornell, the wierd pervert who liked to place naked dolls in boxes😕.
That and an honors social science class which dealt mainly with logic and philosophy of science. Thanks to this class I hate philosophy.

Basket weaving.

It was tedious, boring, and class seemed to go on forever. I'm currently looking at the semester project from the class as it lies incredulously on my shelf. I must say that despite my hatred for the class itself, I look upon my work of art and can say with complete confidence that a finer basket has never been woven.

I hated World Lit. All the faculty in our english department had the same tone as the "Clear Eyes" guy, Ben Stein. You can image how bad an inclass reading of "Paradise Lost" was.

I feel bad for the people who actually have some of Reagan's speech writers as professors.

Hmm so far i'd say either introduction to anthropology or english II .. i hate english.

oh or organic.. not that the material is that boring once you learn it just the learning part sucks 😀

i hate english as well. ironic that it's my first language. haha

paradise lost IS an amazing book, as confusing and theoretical as it is.... but i can imagine how much fun (not) it'd be to read for a class😛

LOL- i just got a random image of Professor Sprout- Harry Potter's "Herbology" teacher.

Biochem.... with that evil short lady I had.............ehrrrrrr nightmares

Philosophy, yuck😱 I still don't know what the hell I was thinking. All those other classes and I chose THAT mess. I thought it would be interesting, wrong. I could care less about those boring dodos

General chem, nuff said👎 I'm going to leave chem alone for a while and enjoy biology classes. Anyway I need a new calculator since the one I used in that class had an "accident" that involved my garage door😉

science - physical chemistry

non-science - chinese politics

I almost forgot - the first time I went to college, my Chem 101 class was HORRIBLE. We had to memorize the periodic table - symbols, weights, everything. One of our tests was being given a blank periodic table and having to fill it out with the symbols, names, and atomic weights.

That reminds me of a class I had in high school. Humanities I, with the teachers from hell. I'm quite sure they were literally devil's spawn. It's the only thing that could have explained their evilness.

We had to memorize the world map, with the name and capital of every country. We were given a blank map and had to fill in the country names and capitals. Still remember the capital of Brunei to this day - Bandar Seri Begawan. Of course, that's about all I remember.

Of course, I think you have me beat! The entire periodic table. Lord.

our inorganic chem class makes us do that. its pretty lame. I dropped the class after she told us she would be testing us on the freaking periodic table.
