It seems that the vast majority of prelim programs are difficult to obtain. These spots are heavily desired by Anesthesiology and Radiology applicants.

So, the question I would like to ask:

What are the worst prelim programs?

(There has to be hope for less competitive applicants that would like to practice Preventative Medicine or Neurology? )

Actually, Anesthesia and Rads seem to prefer TYs.

Agreed. The cushy transitional year programs will be snapped up by the derm, rads, rad onc, and gas crowd. Prelims are usually less cushy and therefore fair game. Programs are generally happy to get "designated" prelims, regardless of whether you are doing rads or neurology. It's the undesignated folks who have a harder time.

I'm not sure your goal should be the "worst" prelim program, just to secure one. Apply to the ones you want, just apply to a bunch of them -- you will probably still have a shot at the "worst" ones in the scramble.

Well let's turn this thread into a malignant prelim programs post.
