Worth doing research (program) before med school?

I got admitted into a med school that offers a research program w/ stipend for MS0 and MS1 students. If I do this program before med school, can I include this research for residency application or will it be silly to do so since its "before med school"? Also, I want to try to transfer into the MSTP program, so I feel like this program will help me transfer, but to what extent will this do so? I kinda want to relax before I go all in med school and since the program ends only 3 days before school starts, I feel like I wont fully be fresh. Do you people think its worth it?
