Worth going to Second Look if already set?

Depends on what it would cost you to attend and how willing you are to objectively assess the fit at this point.

I went to the open look at my school because I was able to drive to it and attend over the weekend, so I didn't have to take days off work or pay for anything except gas. It was nice to meet some of my future classmates there but I probably wouldn't have missed much if I didn't attend. I was already set on the school at that point, but sometimes I wish I would have kept an open mind and attended other second looks because my school's atmosphere isn't the best fit for my personality. That said, I'm happy enough here that it's not a huge deal.

I am already 100% set on the school... I just didn't know if it was still worth going to meet future classmates (possibly find roommate), interact with faculty, etc. I would have to fly there, so if there is really nothing I would gain from it then it is probably not worth it... I'm already sold on the school, so if the whole point of 2nd look is to sell me on the school it probably isn't worth it.

Not worth it.

uhh yeah no lol. Wait until a roommate sign up sheet comes out and find a roommate that way. Do not waste time and money going out to see a school you know you'll be at anyway.

I'm gonna disagree. Second look was a blast. You meet a bunch of your future classmates. Go out a bunch (usually on the school or the current med students' dime).

Lot of people decided on roommates then and there. A couple of couples even started that weekend.

Unless cost is prohibitive, go, be a part of the class.

I second this. It was a blast meeting and going out with my future classmates and we were wined/dined the entire weekend. It's the first time in the process where the school is trying to impress you rather than vice-versa (and it feels great!). It was also a good time to not only finalize roommates, but to see housing options in person.

I went to "accepted student day", I'm assuming it's the same as what you're talking about. It was a 7-8 hour drive for me but I met a bunch of my classmates, checked out some of the local restaurants and bars, looked at various apartments/houses while I was there and signed a pre-lease on an apartment my SO and I loved. Is it worth it just to listen to the admins talk about what the school and curriculum is like? No. However there are plenty of other things you can do while you're there that can make it worth your time.

What about going to the secondlook day for the #2 school on your list. Maybe it will give you a fresh prospective on the school

My thoughts on my school exactly.

Even keeping an open mind, it can be hard to figure out if you fit well with your classmates. I narrowed my list and went to 2 second looks. The first one was an entire weekend, but a lot of the people I met didn't end up attending that school either. Not that it isn't a great school, but a lot of people were holding a decent number of offers. I didn't feel like I fit at all with the people I was with most of the weekend, and it turns out basically none of them attended. The place I ended up had a three hour second look where I felt like I maybe fit in better, but you can't tell off of just a few hours. Interestingly, most of the students I did meet ended up coming. They were/are nice enough, but they just aren't my people. People also are totally different at second looks from their true personalities. I am super introverted, but I tried really hard to be extroverted at the first one to fit in. Pretty sure I made a total a** of myself. It didn't help that I only got about 4 hours of sleep over two nights and alcohol was involved.

If I went based off fit with classmates alone, I think I would have ended up OOS at a public school that was way too expensive with no hope for IS tuition.
