Worth it for Texas resident to apply OOS?

I have read that OOS schools look at Texas residents differently but in a negative way. I have already submitted my TMDSAS application but my father keeps encouraging me to apply to more schools just to be safe. I have already started my DO app for UIW here in Texas as well.

Stats: 506 MCAT, 3.65 GPA, URM (Mexican & Spanish speaker)
