Right now I have around a 3.63 cGPA and 3.59 sGPA. I'm taking 2 gap years (taking the MCAT in September and going to apply to med schools next Summer) so I was wondering since I'll be done with the MCAT in September, is it worth it for me to take some extra upper-division biology classes at my undergrad school to raise my GPA after I finish the MCAT? They're not easy/fluff classes and I'm 100% certain I can do well in them (I've never received a grade below A- in any upper-div biology course). If I get A's in let's say just 4 upper-division 4 credit quarter system classes, I can raise my cGPA to a 3.675 and sGPA to a 3.65. These numbers are a LOT more competitive to say the least, especially the science GPA.
I'd be taking just two classes a quarter for two quarters, so this really will not be difficult for me to get A's in them. I can even take more classes if only two classes a quarter looks bad to adcoms.
I know this may seem dumb to some people since it can be a little risky but I literally have no other things going on besides part-time work and, again, I'm certain I can get A's in them.
How do adcom members view this? Is this not worth it? I'd just like for my numbers to be more comparable to the median GPA and MCAT of medical school matriculants, to make myself more competitive.
Thoughts?
