Do you think it's worth spending 1-2 hours each day in summer preparing for organic chemistry for the upcoming semester?
I'm also volunteering and doing some research and was wondering whether to read/attempt to self teach organic chem to myself during my downtime at these ECs in summer so I could be better prepared.

Should I or it is better off for me to wait and just learn it during the semester in the class?

And also, would Organic Chemistry Demystified be a good place to start with?

It depends on the kind of person you are, I guess. You could do it but you probably won't get past the first chapter, something you'd do in a day when schools actually in session. There's really no point either. Organic is no longer a tough weeded class at most state schools. It's a simple science of pattern recognition and repeated principles.

I don't see how it could hurt. In my school, you do all the work and professors just summarize (or focus on material that will be tested). There are lots of good resources online.

In your opinion what made it stop being a tough weed our class?

"simple science of pattern recognition and repeated principles" which I agree, but sometimes professors like to throw in convoluted questions or questions based on true understanding of the material.
