Would an MD letter help me get into DO school if none is required?

Hi, I am applying to DO school this coming cycle. I have both shadowed and worked for an MD over the past five years. The DO school I am most interested in (UMDNJ-SOM) does not require a letter from a doctor. Would a letter from the MD be helpful (I know he will say yes)? Thanks!

It can't hurt.

If it's just generic, no. If he/she knows you well, it can speak volumes. Most osteopathic programs know that DO's are not as prevalent everywhere or as available for shadowing/mentoring.

I have known him for quite some time so I imagine it would not be terribly generic. I'll see what he says, thanks for the responses.
