Would anyone do an overnight, retail APPE rotation?

Pros: you rotate for 1 week, then you're off for 1 week, you talk to ER doctors and law enforcement on a regular basis
Cons: you'll be up all night long, you work with other pharmacists and technicians very little

Yes, definitely. Especially since I already work in a community setting during the normal hours. Would my wife approve of such a thing? Now that's a different story.

I would for sure, just to see what it's like. The having a whole week at a time off part sounds fantastic, but I'm not sure if it's as awesome as it sounds. It would also be a good way to get a taste of working 3rd shift if you haven't before.

How many hours/day is it? My school has a policy of limiting the number of hours we can work each day on the rotation. I think we're limited to 10 hours/day.
My shifts are 10 hour shifts M-F and 11 hours S-S. I don't know what our limits were for rotations, but I would just keep the same shifts M-S for simplicity. I have a hard time remembering when to come in Sat and Sun myself! Lol

I'd dread having a student sitting around with me for 3-4 hours doing nothing = boredom lol... the first night is cool, 2nd kkk..., 3rd, I'd have nothing to talk about... How about you bring your laptop and we watch movies!

Most of my overnight work is done after the 4-5th hours, typically I do around 70-100 rx... then nothing until the daytime crew come in...

It's kind of one of those dating scenarios where you get stuck with the person you don't really want to be with for 3 days straight! But now, you are stuck with the darn student with nothing to do for hours on end.

There used to be an overnight tech, but the position was scrapped for political (fairness) reasons, so there's plenty for students to do.
As a student, I would have liked to have done an overnight rotation to know what it would be like. There just weren't any available.

Don't know about retail, but my friend's 7 on/7 off night ER rotation was quite popular.

heck yeah i'd do it. then i could see how it feels like so if i ever wanted to apply for a spot like that i'd know if it sucked arse or kicked arse

I agree, I would like to see if a spot like that is awesome or balls. It would be a learning experience either way.

I would do it as long as I can get 160 hours in the month.

Definitely be nice to find out with only a few weeks of commitment rather than signing on and finding out you hate it.

I'd dig it if you could knock out the rotation doing the 7on/7off with the pharmacist
This would be the kicker. I'd imagine schools would probably make you do the standard 5 days/8 hours formula, which would really kill the experience. If you could actually get the 7on/7off, it'd be cool.
